What a nice experience working with Jonathon Richter and his team at CATE at the University of Oregon.
We started this project 6 days ago and have really accelerated our experience with the Wonderland platform.
We have both completed the artwork and model construction part of the process. Now the models are in Wonderland format and ready to be deployed on our respective servers.
The teams hope that by going through the process together that each team will benefit from the respective strengths of the other team and accelerate our learning processes.
The teams are trying a Web 2.0 approach by managing the whole effort on a wiki space set up on Wetpaint.com for rapid deployment and ease of use.
In the future this type of effort will be managed here on Virtual NorthStar.
The models are done and converted into a format which can be deployed on the Wonderland server. We expect some trouble here based on the postings at the Wonderland site. That is what we expected and are kind of looking forward to as many of us do not have first hand experience in the Wonderland deployment process.
We have been given a lot of invitations to speak about virtual worlds to a variety of audiences. Tomorrow I address the Minnesota State Customized Training Group in Deerwood, MN. This group has representatives from all the MnSCU schools as well as private firms.
I will be co-presenting with John Grozik a really solid technologist who we have met through North Hennipen Community College. Originally from Milwaukee John has spent his entire career in higher education. A very nice person whom we have grown to like.
