Wow can you believe this weather? Our big stag ride is coming up this weekend and it looks like I am going to get pretty wet. Better bring along an extra slicker and some beverages to chase away the cold.
We had a great presentation at the Minnesota High Technology Association annual meeting. They had great crowd this year, about 800 registrants so we still have plenty of interest in advanced technologies here in Minnesota.
I presented with Al Essa who did a nice job of presenting the role of technology in higher education. I followed with our virtual worlds presentation.
We were supported rather strongly by the group from Microsoft. They asked a couple of really good questions which was nice to respond to and share our view of this technology.
We met on the 22nd with folks from Harding High School about our Virtual Tutoring project. This is an effort to connect our students and perhaps eventually all students in college with middle and high schoolers in a virtualized tutoring facility.
Nice opportunity for aspiring teachers to practice their craft and for K-12 students and families to get some much needed help.
Some of you are aware of this project from Australia. We are going to give it a trial run here. They do a lot of what is being done in Wonderland but on a different platform. This is a new one to me but the feedback from them has been great and our students here at the college seem to like it a lot.
We continue to work closely with the Coughlan Group who due to our association and collaborative work relationship are starting to develop a marketing practice around virtual worlds. It is kind of cool. We hope to continue working with them.
