Where to begin here? I have been away for a while working on project things and on my sabbatical plan.
On Friday, April 11 I was privileged to address the faculty on what we are doing in Virtual Worlds. It was a lot of fun since I can remember sitting in that small room 30 years before taking my professional engineering exam. WOW time went by quickly!
Bryan Carter of Virtual Harlem fame followed me. One really cool dude. He is kind of a legend in the virtual world community for his application of the technology to education.
Much credit to Shelley Bibeau, Assistant Dean of Instructional Technology for a well organized thoughtfully managed event.
At the invitation of a truly great politician, Rep. Tom Rukavina, the college was invited to present to the higher ed finance committee what we are doing in virtual worlds at the college and our relationship to Sun Microsystems.
It was very interesting and many thanks to Donovan Schwichtenberg, Ken Niemi, and Robert Reagan of Sun Microsystems for their help in carrying off an excellent demonstration.
We continue to work along with Sun on a kick off date for our Sun Center of Excellence.
The difficulty lies with scheduling. Either we are not available or they are not available. Well that gives us the excuse to keep talking to each other which we like to do. The exchange of ideas is always fruitful.
We have successfully moved our artwork to the server area of our test machine. This involved several messages to the bulletin board at Sun but we finally got the J3DFly program functioning and have created our first world.
My apologies here. Since I am the technical lead it should have happened sooner but I have been dealing with administrative type concerns.
