Site Technical Updates

I wanted to highlight the fact that there is a conference of sorts taking place in Minneapolis this Saturday which is relevant to a number of things used for this project in one way or another. It's called MinneBar (short for Barcamp Minnesota), and registrations starts at 8:00 AM at Coffman Union. The full details are available on the Barcamp site.

There will be a number of Sessions, but in particular I want to mention the following:

"Why Drupal?" with Allie Micka
(This web site runs on Drupal.)
"Immersive Environments: More than a Game" with John A. Grozik
(A discussion of all sorts of projects similar to ours.)
"PHP Security 101: Securing Your PHP Applications" with Mike WIllibanks
(Drupal is written in PHP.)
"Twin Cities Open Circuit & Free Geek" with Amanda Luker, Thomas Saunders, and Alan Palazzolo
(Reusing and repurposing computer hardware to make our work less abusive to the environment.)

At least the following local groups will be present:

Minnesota MySQL Users Group
(Drupal uses MySQL for its database.)
Twin Cities Drupal Users Group
(The folks to talk to about making our web site rock.)
TCLUG - Twin Cities Linux Users Group
(This web site and much of our future infrastructure is running on Linux, specifically Ubuntu.)
Twin Cities Open Circuit
(Demystifying computers and IT and recycling hardware.)
Twin Cities PHP
(Drupal is written in PHP.)
