I wanted to highlight the fact that there is a conference of sorts taking place in Minneapolis this Saturday which is relevant to a number of things used for this project in one way or another. It's called MinneBar (short for Barcamp Minnesota), and registrations starts at 8:00 AM at Coffman Union. The full details are available on the Barcamp site.
There will be a number of Sessions, but in particular I want to mention the following:
- "Why Drupal?" with Allie Micka
- (This web site runs on Drupal.)
- "Immersive Environments: More than a Game" with John A. Grozik
- (A discussion of all sorts of projects similar to ours.)
- "PHP Security 101: Securing Your PHP Applications" with Mike WIllibanks
- (Drupal is written in PHP.)
- "Twin Cities Open Circuit & Free Geek" with Amanda Luker, Thomas Saunders, and Alan Palazzolo
- (Reusing and repurposing computer hardware to make our work less abusive to the environment.)
At least the following local groups will be present:
- Minnesota MySQL Users Group
- (Drupal uses MySQL for its database.)
- Twin Cities Drupal Users Group
- (The folks to talk to about making our web site rock.)
- TCLUG - Twin Cities Linux Users Group
- (This web site and much of our future infrastructure is running on Linux, specifically Ubuntu.)
- Twin Cities Open Circuit
- (Demystifying computers and IT and recycling hardware.)
- Twin Cities PHP
- (Drupal is written in PHP.)
